Creamy Pasta Shells with Broccoli and Ham

Ingredients

Salt and pepper
1 pound small inshell pasta
4 cups small broccoli florets (from 1 medium broccoli head)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
4 ounces cooked ham, chopped
¾ cup heavy cream, warmed
½ cup grated parmesan cheese

To make


Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes. Add broccoli during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and return to the pan.While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the onion and saute until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the ham and cook, stirring, for another 2 minutes. Add the cream, bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 3-5 minutes.Add the cream mixture to the pan with the pasta and broccoli. Add the cheese and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately, with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese if desired.
