Demerara Simple Syrup

To give your simple syrup a richer sugar flavor, prepare a portion of simple Demerara syrup. Use this version whenever a recipe requires a simple syrup.
Cook the sugar and water in a 2-liter saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, for 3-4 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temperature (about 30 minutes). Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
