With the help of a food processor, it is easy to prepare the butter yourself. Use this simple method to whip up a serving of fresh, thick butter in just 15 minutes.
Process cream and, if desired, salt, in a food processor until cream separates into a liquid and solid, 8 to 10 minutes. Spoon butter into a fine wire-mesh strainer; discard liquid. Rinse butter in cold water, and gently press with a spatula to remove any excess liquid. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator.
