Fried cheese sticks


1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup dried breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian spice mix (or 1/4 teaspoon oregano + 1/4 teaspoon thyme)
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup corn starch
Cheese cut into sticks (frying cheese or mozzarella cheese)
Oil for frying

To make

Hot, melted cheese is the perfect appetizer for an Italian meal!

  1. Mix the eggs and milk together. Combine the breadcrumbs with garlic, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese. Combine the flour with the corn starch.
  2. Dip the cheese sticks into the flour, then egg mixture, then the bread crumbs. Freeze for 30 minutes-1 hour so that they don't melt while frying.
  3. Heat oil on medium-high heat, until a wooden spoon inserted in the oil causes bubbles. Fry the cheese sticks for about 2 minutes, until golden brown. If they brown too quickly reduce the heat of the oil.

Serve with marinara or spaghetti sauce
