2 teaspoons baking powder

1 ¼ cups granulated sugar, divided
½ cup milk, room temperature
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup tightly packed light brown sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
1 ½ cups boiling water

Nothing beats a warm brownie fresh from the pan. Decorate this mouth-watering brownie hot fudge pie with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream - a gourmet treat that will appeal to the whole family.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the flour, the next 3 ingredients, and 3/4 cup granulated sugar in a large bowl; add the milk, butter, and vanilla. Place the dough on a lightly oiled 8-inch square pan.Combine the brown sugar, cocoa, and remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar in a small bowl; sprinkle the batter over the pan. Using a spoon, gently drizzle the dough with 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, being careful not to break the layers. (Do not mix.)Bake at 350 ° C for 45 minutes or until a crust forms on top that springs when touched. Let cool on a wire rack for 25 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.Chocolate Cherry Pudding: Defrost 1 pack (12 oz) of frozen dark sweet pitted cherries; strain. Dry the cherries with paper towels. Prepare the recipe according to the instructions in step 2 by gently sprinkling the cherries over the dough on the baking sheet.
