Mashed Potatoes with Chives

2 pounds peeled Yukon gold potatoes
½ cup whole milk
3 tablespoons butter
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh green onions

Put the potatoes in a large saucepan; cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until tender; drain.Combine the whole milk and butter in a small saucepan and cook over medium-high heat until the butter melts. Remove the milk mixture from the heat.Return the potatoes to the mold; mash with a potato masher until the desired consistency is reached. Add the milk mixture, salt and pepper, stirring until smooth. Add chopped fresh green onions.
