Baked Ziti with Broccoli and Sausage

Ingredients
Salt and pepper
8 oz hot italian sausage, uncoated
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
8 oz ziti
1 ½ pounds broccoli (about 1 large head), remove stalks, cut inflorescences into 1-inch-thick slices
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
To make
In a large saucepan, bring the salted water to a boil over high heat. Preheat the oven to 350 ° F and lightly oil an 11-by-7-inch roasting pan. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute the sausages, stirring and chopping, until they are no longer pink, about 3 minutes. Add the butter and mix well. Sprinkle flour on top and stir for 1-2 minutes. Slowly pour in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened, 3-4 minutes. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.Add the ziti to the boiling water and cook until tender, about 5 minutes, then add the broccoli and cook for another 3 minutes. Tip the ziti and broccoli into a colander and transfer to a roasting tin. Add the sausage mixture.Sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top and bake until golden brown, until the mixture begins to bubble, about 25 minutes. Serve hot.
