Chicken and Onion Kebabs

Ingredients

Barbecue dip sauce:
1 cup homemade bbq sauce or bottled
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 onion, grated
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Add a little tabasco sauce or to taste
Kebabs:
3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 3/4 pounds), cut into 1-inch-thick cubes
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for greasing
1 ½ onions, cut into quarters, in layers
Salt and pepper

Prepare the sauce: Combine the barbecue sauce, ketchup, onion, lemon juice, and tabasco sauce in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Serve at room temperature or refrigerate.Prepare the kebabs: preheat the grill or light the charcoal and let it burn to gray ash. Combine the chicken with Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and olive oil in a bowl until smooth. Set aside the chicken to marinate at room temperature for at least 15 minutes. (The chicken can be marinated, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.)Line the chicken cubes on 8 long metal skewers, alternating with the onion slices. Brush each skewer with olive oil and season with salt and pepperPlace the roasting pan or grill about 6 inches from the heat source. Grill the skewers, turning frequently, until the chicken is lightly browned and browned and the onion is lightly browned from the edges, about 10 minutes. Serve the skewers hot with barbecue dip sauce.
