Chopped Steak with Caramelized Onion Gravy

Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef (93% lean)
¼ cup Ultragrain® Universal purpose flour
3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh Italian parsley (flat-leaved)
2 tablespoons dry breadcrumbs, without seasoning
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon ground mustard
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 shallot, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon pure Wesson®canola oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon Ultragrain® Universal purpose flour
½ cup brandy
2 cups beef broth

To make

Recipe for steak, drizzled with sauce with onions, spices and brandy.
To prepare the steak, combine the ground beef, flour, parsley, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, egg, shallots, garlic, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Shape the mixture into 4 patties (1/2-inch thick); set aside. Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties; cook for 10 minutes, turning once, or until they are lightly browned and cooked through. Transfer the patties to serving plates; set aside. To make the sauce, add the butter to the pan. Add the onion, thyme, salt and pepper; cook for 12 minutes or until the onion is caramelized, stirring occasionally. Add the flour; mix until smooth. Add the brandy and stir, scraping the browned pieces off the bottom of the pan. Add the broth; stir until smooth. Bring the mixture to a boil; reduce the heat and cook for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Spoon the sauce over the cutlets. Serve with BAKED ALEXIA® RED POTATOES, prepared according to the package directions.
