Cincinnati Five-Way Chili

Ingredients

Cooking Spray
1 pound ground turkey
½ pound ground sirloin
2 ½ cups chopped onion (about 2 medium ones), divided
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup of water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons hot BBQ sauce
½ teaspoon kosher salt
4 teaspoons white vinegar
¾ teaspoon ground cumin
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon ground coriander
½ oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 can tomato puree (10 3/4 ounces)
3 ½ cups hot spaghetti (about 8 ounces raw pasta)
¾ cup (3 oz) grated low-fat cheddar cheese
1 can of beans (15 oz.), washed, dried, and warmed (approximately 1 1/2 cups)
Oyster crackers (optional)

To make

The phrase "with five additions" refers to the number of dishes that Queen City residents serve with their own chili with unique spices.
Preheat a large roasting pan over medium-high heat. Brush the mold with cooking spray. Add the turkey and tenderloin to the skillet; cook for 5 minutes or until they are lightly browned, stirring until crumbled. Add 2 cups onion and garlic; cook for 5 minutes or until onion is tender, stirring occasionally. Add 1 cup of water and the following 12 ingredients (mashed); bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 45 minutes. Place about 1/2 cup of the spaghetti in each of the 6 bowls. Place 1 cup chili in each bowl. Sprinkle each serving with 4 teaspoons of the remaining onion, 2 tablespoons of the cheese, and 2 1/2 tablespoons of the beans. Serve with crackers if desired.
