2 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
Cooking Spray
¾ cup (6 oz) unsalted butter
¾ cup brown sugar
To make
This delicious, family-friendly monkey bread is much easier than it sounds, and all thanks to a secret weapon: canned sponge cake batter. All you really need to do is sprinkle the cookies with sugar and cinnamon, put them in a baking dish and put them in the oven. The result is the sticky, sickly-sweet monkey bread that we all know and love.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cut each sponge cake into quarters.Put the sugar and cinnamon in a large zippered bag and shake to mix. Place the dough pieces in a plastic bag and shake to coat. Evenly place the dough pieces in a tube-shaped form, smeared with cooking spray.Put the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat; cook, stirring frequently, until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes. Spread the butter mixture evenly over the dough. Bake in the preheated oven until cooked through, about 40 minutes.
