Ingredients
2 teaspoons dark sesame oil, divided
8 ounces medium-sized shrimps, peeled and pitted
2 teaspoons minced peeled ginger
⅛ a teaspoon of kosher salt
2 tablespoons canola mayonnaise
1 teaspoon srirachi
32 green onion slices (1 1/2 inches thick) (optional)
To make
Buy cheap Chinese soup spoons from Asian markets or serve them with rice crackers or in hollowed-out cucumber slices. Green onions, an optional sixth ingredient, improve the appearance, but do not play a decisive role in the taste.
Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of butter; stir to combine. Add shrimp; saute 2 minutes. Add the ginger and salt; simmer for 2 minutes or until tender. Allow to cool slightly. Coarsely chop.Combine mayonnaise, sriracha and remaining 1/2 teaspoon oil. Add the prawns; stir to coat. Place about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp mixture on each of the 16 Chinese soup spoons; if desired, sprinkle each with 2 green onion slices.
