Green Onion Soup

Ingredients
3 bunches green onions, finely chopped
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups chicken stock
1 ½ cups halved
½ cup milk
½ cup vermouth
½ cup water
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper
¼ teaspoon hot sauce
To make
Saute the spring onions in butter in a large roasting pan until soft; add the flour and mix well. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add the broth, baking powder, milk, vermouth, and water; cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened and bubbles form. Add salt, pepper and hot sauce; mix well.Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Serve in warm soup bowls.
