Bookmark this page

2 pounds cherry tomatoes on a vine
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped basil, thyme or oregano leaves or 1 sprig rosemary
Coarse sea salt
To make
From the vine to the grill and to the table, a mound of fresh tomatoes will be the perfect addition to any summer picnic menu. If desired, you can use heirloom tomatoes on the grill. To do this, be sure to use a grill rack or small fry rack. Tomatoes will be much easier to work with.
Preheat the grill to medium heat (350 ° F to 450 ° F). Place the tomatoes (attached to the vine) in the center of an 18-inch x 18-inch sheet of strong aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with herbs if desired. Wrap it in foil to make a bag.Grill the tomatoes under the lid for 10 minutes; open the bag slightly and cook on the grill until the tomatoes are soft and warm, 5-10 minutes. Sprinkle with sea salt and serve.
