1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup of water
1 small red chili, sliced

Try this spicy syrup with fiery mango margarita (pictured). If you are afraid of the chili heat, wear latex gloves while slicing.
Combine sugar, water, and chopped chili in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat; let stand for 20 minutes. Pour the mixture through a mesh sieve into a bowl; discard the chili slices. Cool the syrup until ready to use.
