½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter

Here's a basic recipe for making soft-shelled crabs. You can diversify it by adding cayenne pepper, garlic powder or other seasonings to the flour.
Sprinkle each crab with salt and pepper. Pour the flour into a shallow bowl. Roll each crab in flour, turning to coat; shake off excess flour.Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the crabs in the pan, top sides down; cook for 3 minutes. Turn the crabs over; cook for another 2 minutes.
