Shells with Italian Sausage and Ricotta Stuffing

Ingredients

1 pack (16 oz) of Johnsonville®soft or sweet ground sausage
1 box (12.5 oz) giant macaroni shells
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cans (24 oz each) of marinara sauce
2 eggs, beaten
1 box (15 oz) of ricotta cheese
4 cups grated mozzarella cheese, divided
1 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
½ cup grated Romano cheese
¼ cup chopped fresh basil leaves or 1 tablespoon dried basil
½ teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley

To make

Seashells and cheese can make a great snack, but Johnsonville® can turn them into a dish! This recipe combines all your favorite Italian cheeses with the zesty flavor of Johnsonville® Italian sausages. The result? A real Italian dish that will keep your stomach full and satisfied.
In a skillet, saute the sausage over medium heat until the pork is no longer pink; drain. In a roasting pan, cook the pasta shells according to the package directions; drain and rinse with cold water. Using a pastry brush, brush the sides and bottom of a 3-liter baking dish with butter. Pour half of the marinara sauce into the roasting pan. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, ricotta cheese, 2-1 / 2 cups mozzarella, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, Romano cheese, basil, pepper, and prepared sausage. Fill the shells with the meat mixture; place in a baking dish. Drizzle the remaining marinara sauce over the shells. Cover and bake at 350 ° C for 30 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Bake for another 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with parsley. Serve immediately.
