For the filling: hot sauce, chopped green onions, sliced tomatoes, cooked and crumbled bacon, fried chicken pieces, grated Gouda cheese, grated cheddar cheese.

Bring the salt and 8 cups of water to a boil in a roasting pan over medium-high heat.Add the grits, reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 minutes or until creamy.Whisk in butter and pepper. Transfer to a slow cooker to keep warm, and serve with desired toppings.
