Slow-Cooker Spiral Ham

Ingredients

¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
½ cup pure maple syrup
⅓ a glass of water
¼ cup wholegrain mustard
6 medium garlic cloves, crushed
1 (5-inch) sprig of thyme
6 whole cloves
1 (7 pounds) fully cooked boneless ham, spiraled

To make

This delicious ham, sliced in a spiral, is very easy to prepare. And if you're tired of overly sweet sauces, you're in luck-a ham filling is added to this sauce to give it a savory, sweet and salty taste. If your ham doesn't fit in the slow cooker, you can trim the top edge until it fits. Then just toss these scraps into the slow cooker. To spread the juice evenly, you'll need turkey grease, so don't settle for a spoon.
Combine sugar, syrup, water, mustard, garlic, thyme, and cloves in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, to allow the sugar to dissolve, 5 minutes.Place the ham, cut side down, in an 8-quart slow cooker. Pour the syrup mixture over the ham. Cover and cook on a low heat until it warms up, about 4 hours, using a turkey beater to pour cooking liquid over the ham every 45 minutes. Remove the ham from the slow cooker and place on a serving platter. Cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.Pour the cooking liquid into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium, keeping the mixture simmering slightly. Cook, stirring occasionally, until reduced to about 1 1/4 cups, 15 to 20 minutes. Avoid garlic, thyme, and cloves. Serve the sauce with the ham.
