Sour Cream and Onion Dip

Ingredients
1 teaspoon canola oil
2 cups finely chopped sweet yellow onion (about 1 onion)
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
¼ teaspoon salt, divided
1 cup low-fat sour cream
½ cup canola mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped fresh green onions, divided
¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
To make
Serve this creamy sauce with sliced carrots and celery, sliced bell peppers, or pita chips.
Preheat a small skillet over medium-high heat. Pour the oil into the pan; stir to coat. Add the onion, garlic, and 1/8 teaspoon salt; cook for 4 minutes, stirring frequently. Reduce the heat to medium-low; cook for 6 minutes, stirring frequently. Cool the onion mixture slightly.Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, 1 1/2 tablespoons green onions, pepper, and the remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Add onion mixture; mix well. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons green onions.
