1 ½ teaspoons ground turmeric
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 ½ cups mashed overripe bananas (from 3 large bananas)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ¾ cups (approximately 7 1/2 ounces) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon ground cardamom
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ cup lightly toasted pine nuts

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly brush an 8 1/2-inch x 4 1/2-inch bread pan with softened butter and line with parchment paper, leaving a 1 1/2-inch protrusion that can later be used as”handles."Beat the butter and turmeric using a hand mixer on medium-high speed in a large bowl until fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the sugar and continue to beat on medium-high speed for 3 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat on medium speed until smooth. Add the bananas and vanilla to the bowl; beat until smooth.Whisk together the flour, baking soda, cardamom, and salt in a medium bowl. Manually mix the flour mixture with the banana mixture until no dry flour streaks remain; do not mix too much. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the dough evenly with pine nuts.Bake in the preheated oven until a wooden skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean, 55 to 60 minutes. (Cover with aluminum foil if the top gets too dark until tender.) Refrigerate in the pan for 15 minutes; remove from the pan. Cool completely on a wire rack. Serve banana bread with turmeric, sprinkled with golden turmeric butter.
