Ingredients

24 slices of rye bread with pumpernickel
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup of milk
1 ½ cups (4 ounces) grated spicy cheddar cheese
1 ½ cups diced boiled turkey
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground red pepper flakes
½ cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
6 bacon slices, cooked, crumbled and divided
5 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced

To make


Place the bread slices on a lightly greased baking sheet. Simmer 6 inches from the stove for 3-4 minutes.Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat; add the flour and cook, whisking constantly, until smooth. Gradually pour in the milk; cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble. Add the cheddar cheese, whisking until the cheese is melted. Add the diced turkey, salt and ground red pepper.Spread the bread evenly with the warm cheese and turkey mixture. Sprinkle evenly with the parmesan cheese and half the bacon.Bake at 500 ° C for 2 minutes or until the parmesan cheese is melted. Place the tomato slices on top and sprinkle evenly with the remaining bacon.What to prepare in advance: Prepare the cheese and turkey mixture, toast the bacon and grate the parmesan the day before the party.
