Chunky Apple Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

½ cup melted butter
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Combine the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl until smooth.Combine the flour and the following 3 ingredients; add to the butter mixture, stirring until smooth. Add apple slices and 1 cup walnuts.
