Old-Fashioned Mashed Potatoes

5 pounds peeled baking potatoes, diced
¾ cup warm 2% low-fat milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 ½ teaspoons salt
¾ teaspoon ground black pepper

There's nothing out of the ordinary here, just a nice mashed potato that works great either as is or with gravy. For extra flavor, sprinkle with chopped green onions.
Put the potatoes in a medium saucepan; cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 15 minutes or until tender; drain.Combine the milk, butter, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add the potatoes; let stand for 5 minutes or until the butter melts.Beat the potato mixture with a mixer on medium speed until smooth.
