Pressed Cuban Sandwiches
Bookmark this page

Ingredients
2 soft Portuguese or French sandwich rolls, sliced lengthwise
Ready-made mustard to taste
1 large pickled cucumber with dill, thinly sliced lengthwise
4 ounces roast turkey, sliced
4 ounces ham, thinly sliced
3 ounces sliced swiss cheese or provolone
Softened butter
To make
A traditional Cuban sandwich consists of roast pork and thinly sliced ham. We changed it a bit by adding leftover ham and turkey. For best results, use two cast-iron skillets or a sandwich press.
Brush each roll with mustard. Place half slices of pickled cucumber, turkey, ham, and cheese on each roll; press lightly together. Spread the outside of the buns with butter.Place the sandwiches in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Put the second pan directly on the sandwiches. Press and grill for 5-10 minutes on each side, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is flat and browned.
