Salami Panini

Ingredients

4 divided hamburger or hot dog buns
4 oz salami, thinly sliced
4 ounces thinly sliced fontina cheese
4 cans pepperoncini (hot Tuscan pepper), thinly sliced lengthwise (optional)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or olive oil

To make


Place the bottom parts of the buns on the work surface with the slice facing up. Top with salami, fontina and pepperoncini (if using). Sandwich with bun tops. Lightly flatten with the back of your shoulder blade. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brush the top of each sandwich with 1/2 tablespoon of butter. Cook the sandwiches with the oiled side facing down, occasionally pressing down with the back of the spatula, for 2 minutes. Flip and cook until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden.
