Turnip Greens with Turnips

Ingredients
2 packs (1 pound each) of pre-washed fresh turnip greens
2 turnips
¼ pound salted pork (low-fat streaked) or smoked pork shoulder
1 liter of water
1 tablespoon bacon filling
½ teaspoon sugar
Pepper sauce (optional)
To make
Salted pork can be replaced with bacon.
Remove stalks and discolored spots from the greenery. Peel and coarsely chop the turnips; set aside. Wash the greens thoroughly; drain and cut into 2-inch pieces.In a roasting pan, bring the salted pork and 1 liter of water to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat, and cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the liquid is reduced by half and the meat is tender. Add the herbs, bacon dust, and sugar; cook, without stirring, for 30 minutes or until the greens are tender.Add the turnips; cover, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes or until the turnips are tender. Serve with pepper sauce, if desired.
