A sizzling skillet filled with cheese, fat, and carbs, but mostly cheese — is reason enough to get out from under the covers. This morning's version of the classic macaroni and cheese includes all your favorite breakfast items: eggs, hash browns, and bacon slices. Bake all this in a pan until the top is browned to your liking. Plates and bowls are fine, but why get the dish dirty? Hand out the forks and gather around the mold until they are browned. And if making macaroni and cheese "from scratch" is too difficult for the morning hours (we've been through it all), we've come up with a quick cooking method using your favorite brand in boxes. Very simple, with macaroni and cheese.Baked Macaroni and Cheese for breakfast Cook until ready: Prepare 2 packages of your favorite macaroni and cheese, toss with bacon slices, sprinkle with 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese and thawed, sliced potato tortillas. Bake until the cheese is melted and the potato crumbs are golden brown. Top with a couple of fried eggs.
Preheat the oven to 400 ° F. Prepare the pasta according to the instructions on the package. While the pasta is cooking, saute the bacon slices in the largest skillet for 7-8 minutes. Remove the bacon slices from the pan and leave.Transfer the bacon fat to a large saucepan. (There should be about 3 tablespoons of fat in the pan — if not, just add the butter.) Add the onion and the next 3 ingredients. Saute until the onion is soft and translucent, stirring frequently. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, until golden brown and smooth. Gradually pour in the milk and cream and bring to a boil, whisking constantly. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, whisking occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until slightly thickened (when the mixture covers the back of the spoon, the dish is ready). Remove from the heat and stir in the cheese until it melts. Add the pasta, bacon, and half the potato tortillas. Pour into a large cast-iron skillet.Use a spoon to make 4 holes in the pasta and break an egg into each one; top with sliced potato tortillas. Bake at 400 ° F until the egg is set and the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let cool for 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle with green onions.
